Lifeline (Myeongjul) is a music-reading theatre piece adapted from the novel of the same name by Kim Ji-yeon. Nangman Theatre presented it as Part I of a literary concert held with the author. Carried by the performers' reading, song, and piano alone, it shares a passage of the novel up close with the audience.

Kim Ji-yeon, a senior Korean novelist who served as chair of the Korean Novelists' Association, is the author of works including Myeongjul, Insaeng, and Nongae, and a winner of the Chae Man-sik Literary Award. The reading opened an evening that continued with a guest performance, the author's reflections on her life in literature, and a conversation with the audience, hosted by the literary critic Heo Hee.
