Grandmother Does Not Die is a music-reading theatre piece adapted from the novel of the same name by Gong Ji-young. Nangman Theatre presented it as the opening of Literature Embraces Life and Music, a humanities concert organised by Gwanak-gu. Carried by the performers' reading, song, and piano, it shares a passage of the novel up close with the audience.

Gong Ji-young (b. 1963) is a celebrated Korean novelist, known for works such as Go Alone Like the Rhinoceros's Horn and The Crucible. The piece opened an evening that continued with the author's reflections on her life in literature and a conversation with the audience.
